Christmas Eve happens to be the 100th time I’ve sat down to write this newsetter, which became this blog — a commitment I made almost two years ago. I didn’t plan for the timing, but it wasn’t accidental either. A holiday centered on giving, togetherness, and home feels like the right place for this milestone to land.
What started as a simple way to stay in touch slowly became something more meaningful. Over time, these letters turned into conversations, and conversations into trust. I’ve learned that relationships, much like homes, aren’t built all at once. They’re built moment by moment — through consistency, care, and showing up even when life gets busy.
That idea sits at the heart of my work. Whether I’m helping someone find the right home, advocating through NAHREP for sustainable and affordable housing in the Latino community, or simply staying connected through this space, the purpose is the same: people need places where they can feel grounded, supported, and hopeful.
Home isn’t just a physical structure. It’s where community and connection take shape. It’s where opportunity starts. And it’s why the concept of the gift of home matters so deeply — especially this time of year.
To honor this 100th letter, I've made a Christmas Eve donation to New Story, an organization building safe, affordable homes for families around the world. Their mission reflects what I believe at the highest level of this work: that housing is foundational to dignity, stability, and the ability to move forward.
This season invites reflection — not just on where we live, but on who we share life with and how we stay connected. I’m grateful for the relationships that have grown through these letters and for the shared sense of community that has made this space feel like home.
One hundred letters later, it turns out it all adds up.
