Friends,
Hola de Las Vegas. I am so lucky to be ringing in Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day at AVANCE Global, the largest gathering of Hispanic professionals in the world. And six days ago, at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation gave the people of Minnesota the Humanitarian Award, "for their collective strength, resilience, compassion, and action in crisis while fomenting unity among all communities." This is the first time in the award's 39-year history it's left Washington, D.C. And can you blame them? Our cities and state showed the world what it means to truly be a neighbor.
For Mexican Independence Day, we honor El Grito, the call to arms for the Mexican people to revolt against Spanish rule and defend their country, their homes, their families. This year, our grito was a whistle.
Mexican American, Mexisotan: it's a potent combination, and I have never been prouder.
Book: American Like Me — America Ferrera. A collection of first-person stories from people caught between two cultures, exactly the terrain of first and second generation American life. I feel every page of this one.
Song: "My One and Only Love" — Mon Laferte, feat. Natalia Lafourcade & Silvana Estrada. Three Mexican powerhouses, one song. Pura magia.
I aim to carry the spirit of honoring familia, community, and home in what I do. If you're thinking about your own next chapter, whether that's buying, selling, or building your own legacy, I'm here to help. Whether that next chapter takes shape in Macalester-Groveland, Highland Park, Summit Hill, Summit University, or Merriam Park, home has always been where this work begins for me.
Xo, Natasha
